Here’s what happens when you sign up for Wisconsin Fishing.

What we collect

Your name, school email, year in school, mobile number, phone verification status, new or returning status, optional fishing interests, any questions or notes you choose to share, signup time, and the version of this privacy notice available when you sign up. Technical request limits use short-lived hashed identifiers to reduce spam.

How your details are used

Authorized officers use your information to review signups, coordinate membership, and provide relevant team information. Submitting a school email does not verify that you own it. Signup holds your place on the signup list for officer review. It does not confirm membership, complete university registration, or approve you for activities.

Who can see them

Your signup is stored in the website’s managed database. Access is restricted to authorized membership officers and the site operator supporting the team. Your name and email are not published as a public roster. Authorized officers can export the roster for membership administration.

Your choices

The interest questions are optional. You can ask an officer to correct your details, withdraw your signup, or request deletion. Contact the team at wifishingteam@gmail.com.

Retention

Signup records are retained for membership administration during the 2026/27 season and reviewed at season end. Requests to remove information are reviewed by the team, with any required record retention explained. Copies in restricted backups may remain until those backups expire.

Phone verification

When text verification is enabled, we send your phone number to Twilio Verify to deliver a one-time code. Requesting a code authorizes that verification text, not marketing messages. Message and data rates may apply. Codes expire after 10 minutes. Temporary verification records expire after 10 minutes and are removed during subsequent verification requests. A verified number records phone ownership at verification time, not school enrollment.

Cookies and emails

The signup form does not require a member account. Officer sign-in uses authentication cookies. We send a signup confirmation and account setup link through Supabase Auth and Resend. The on-screen confirmation acknowledges a saved signup even if email delivery is delayed.
